The flood situation in Pakistan continues to worsen with over 799 deaths, 1,000+ injured, and more than 29,000 displaced, according to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). The Ravi flood is at “exceptionally high” levels, with flows recorded at:
- Jassar: 189,380 – 222,000 cusecs
- Shahdara Lahore: 91,400 – 148,000 cusecs
- Balloki: 80,000 cusecs
- Kot Nina: 250,000 cusecs
Shahdara and Shahdara Lahore face serious risks as water enters low-lying neighborhoods. The PDMA Punjab has warned that peaks may exceed river design capacity within 24–48 hours, leading to possible urban flooding in Lahore.
Kartarpur Flood: Corridor and Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Submerged
The Kartarpur flood has submerged the historic Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, a major Sikh religious site. Water levels have reached nearly 88 feet, forcing the closure of the Kartarpur Corridor. The Guru Granth Sahib was safely relocated, but 200–300 people remain stranded. Rescue efforts are ongoing, with no casualties confirmed.
The Kartarpur flood is reported as the worst in 38 years, further complicating the overall flood situation in Pakistan.
PDMA Punjab Issues Fresh Flood Update Across 10 Districts
The PDMA Punjab has issued alerts for extreme floods in the Ravi, Chenab, and Sutlej rivers within the next two days. Over 600,000 people are being supported in relief camps, with rescue teams active in Kasur, Narowal, and Lahore. At Qadirabad Headworks on the Chenab, water flow has reached 1,070,951 cusecs, near maximum capacity.
